The rumored GLS-based SUV from Maybach may still be some time away, but photos have leaked out of South Africa revealing what is said to be the first SUV to be released under the exclusive marque, the Mercedes Maybach G650 Landaulet. As we know, the new Maybach vehicle range is really more of a hyper-high-end options package than stand alone models, and to that end, the G650 appears based on the "4x4 Squared" model, itself either a beefed up standard G-class, or a slightly reduced 6x6, depending upon how you look at it. It does come fitted with the 6.0-litre biturbo V12 engine producing 625 BHP of power and mated to 7-speed automatic transmission.
The G650 Landaulet was stretched 60mm to allow more space for rear passengers, features a fold away fabric top for the rear section only (in true Landaulet form), includes a privacy partition between passengers and driver, and wholly redesigned and opulent seating surfaces that include branded throw pillows at each station.
